Changes to District Plan and minimum carpark requirements
Restructuring of the Rotorua District Plan and removal of minimum carpark requirements
The Rotorua District Plan has been amended to give effect to (1) national direction with respect to the format of district plans under the national planning standards; and (2) the requirement to remove provisions that require a minimum number of car parks, as detailed below.
Restructuring of the District Plan
The Rotorua District Plan has been amended to implement mandatory directions in the National Planning Standards (November 2019).
These amendments are to the format of the District Plan and not the content or intent. The amendments result in a restructured Rotorua District Plan, in which the content has been reordered into a new set of chapters. Provisions inside each chapter have also been reordered and rules rewritten to achieve a consistent format throughout the plan and meet the requirements of the National Planning Standards.
Parking
Minimum car parking standards have also been removed from the Rotorua District Plan to give effect to the car parking policies in the National Policy Statement on Urban Development 2020. Please note that accessible car parking standards remain. Council may also continue to consider the effects of associated with a lack of parking with respect to some resource consent applications.
These changes take effect from the date of this public notice
