Environmental Laboratory
The Rotorua Lakes Council Laboratory aims to provide a measurement service to help meet our customers' needs.
We can provide timely analysis for drinking (potable) water, wastewater and environmental water for public health, industrial / resource consent monitoring needs or just for peace of mind.
We hold accreditation from International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) for chemical, microbiological, and drinking water testing for the majority of measurements we perform. Our scopes of accreditation can be found on the IANZ website.
We also recognise that customer needs go beyond analysis and pride ourselves on our high levels of customer service and customised electronic methods of data transfer. While not accredited by IANZ for sampling, the laboratory also provides sample collection services in some instances.
The RLC Environmental Laboratory has a wide customer base ranging from local authorities, engineering consultants and developers to rural schools and small community water schemes.

IANZ accredited
The Rotorua Lakes Council Environmental Laboratory is IANZ accredited to NZS/ISO/IEC 17025. This accreditation ensures that our laboratory meets stringent international standards of technical competence, reliability and quality management.
Internal audits of targeted areas are carried out monthly, and the laboratory participates in regular ILCP (inter-laboratory comparison programme) testing rounds. These ILCP results help ensure continued proficiency in chemical, physical and microbiological testing performed at the lab.
