Council offers several picturesque venues for wedding ceremonies. These can be booked for a fee. Some of the venues are public reserves and you cannot use them exclusively, but your booking will give you preferential use. A list of our most popular wedding venues is provided below but there are also many other suitable reserves available. A member of the Events Hub Team would be happy to discuss the other options with you.
Government Gardens
One of the major parks in the central city is the Government Gardens. Located in Hinemaru Street the Government Gardens provides a perfect backdrop to any wedding picture. The Klamath Falls Rose Garden, Band Rotunda, Te Runanga Tearooms and Blue Baths are all located in the Government Gardens. These are described below.
Klamath Falls Rose Gardens
The Klamath Falls Rose Gardens will lure you with its amazing scent when the roses are in bloom. Located in Government Gardens the roses are at their best during summer and generally bloom from mid-November to June.
Te Runanga Tea House
Located in Government Gardens the Tea House was built in 1903 and was originally the social centre of spa facilities. It was renovated by the Rotorua Heritage and Civic Trust and is now one of the city's most romantic venues for ceremonies and receptions. Please note this venue has catering requirements.
Band Rotunda
The Band Rotunda is adjacent to Te Runanga Tea House. Built in 1900 and overlooking a picturesque pond, its character and charm make it a scenic venue for wedding ceremonies.
Kuirau Park
Kuirau Park is a typically Rotorua geothermal environment with several picturesque areas. There are a number of geothermal lakes and steaming mud pools, as well as a wisteria-covered bridge, the scented gardens, a gazebo area and extensive manicured lawns.
Murray Linton Rose Gardens
Named after a former mayor of Rotorua the Murray Linton Rose Gardens are located on Trigg Avenue in Fenton Park. The gardens boast manicured roses and an expansive open lawn area, making it ideal for wedding photos. Power is available and toilets are located on site.
