Park Reserves
Park reserve maintenance
Rotorua Lakes Council maintains hundreds of kilometres of parks and recreation areas across the Rotorua district. Part of that maintenance includes using weed control sprays.
Weed control spraying
To control weeds in our parks and reserves, Council uses glyphosate-based herbicides along and around surfaces like fences, walls, and bollards. These are applied 3-4 times a year.
We don't use glyphosate near playgrounds, drains, and waterways. All applicators are trained and certified, following strict guidelines.
Council maintains a list of properties with, and encourages residents to add, "no spray" signs on rural road and urban reserve boundary fences.
