Rural Transfer Stations
What can I drop off at the transfer stations?
The following can be disposed of at these facilities during staffed hours - do not dump material outside of the gates when facilities are closed:
- Household recycling (24 hour drop off at Tarawera and Ōkere Falls transfer stations)
- Household rubbish (red bag 24 hour drop off at Tarawera and Ōkere Falls transfer stations)
- Small scale commercial rubbish
- Clean scrap metal
- Green waste
These items cannot be disposed of at the rural transfer stations:
- Large scale commercial waste
- Building materials
- Hazardous waste
- Liquids
- Whiteware
Please take these items directly to the Rotorua South Resource Recovery Park (previously known as the Atiamuri/Rotorua landfill) instead.
How much does it cost to drop materials at transfer stations?
Pricing for material drop off to the rural transfer stations, effective 1 July 2024, is tabled below, all prices include GST.
