I refer to your Official Information request of 25 March 2024 covering various items including Ngāti Whakaue Gifted Reserves, staff policies, Council workshops, and other items.
Below are responses to the individual requests:
- Please provide a copy of all leases to all organisations on gifted reserves as discussed and provided to Pukeroa Oruawhata Trust at the Ngāti Whakaue Gifted Land Protocol Committee 19/11/14.

No further public workshops are scheduled at this time for 2024 - With reference to the single workshop conducted this year, how many briefings/information session/brainstorms and/or meetings have occurred or replaced workshops this year or are planned this year.
Two public excluded briefings are scheduled/planned as follows:
-24 April – Te Arawa Partnership review update
-22 May – 3 Waters - Briefing to councillors to provide visibility on what the legislation may/may not be considering and provide an update on the regional perceptions being formulated from across other councils in the region. The session is being facilitated by Vaughan Payne who has been working across the region on 3 Waters reform and possible council positions for the future. - Rotorua Lakes Council does a lot of pre-consultation with iwi and hapu groups. What plans if any does Rotorua Lakes Council have to extend this right to non-iwi groups. If there are no plans what sections of law is Rotorua Lakes Council referencing to only pre-consult iwi/hapu groups.
RLC undertakes engagement with a variety of groups and organisations, both Māori and non-Māori. Engagement is undertaken in a variety of ways and assists Council in preparing proposals which may go out for consultation. Who RLC engages with is guided by the Significance & Engagement Policy which uses a number of criteria (importance to the Rotorua District; importance to Māori; community interest; consistency with existing policy and strategy; impact on the Council’s capacity and capability (including costs). The Significance & Engagement Policy can be found on Council’s website.
