Subject: LGOIMA request - Tarawera Reticulation Scheme - cultural inductions/ observation
I refer to your LGOIMA request of 30 September regarding cultural inductions/observations for the Tarawera Reticulation Scheme, specifically evidence of cultural inductions for the Tarawera Reticulation Scheme Stage 1 work presently underway, together with copies of timesheets for all cultural excavation observation and associated invoices for such work to date. Please also provide copies of any agreed discovery protocols.
Attached is an email from the contractor Fulton Hogan (PDF, 2Mb) confirming the number of their staff that have attended cultural inductions for Stage 1 of the Tarawera Sewerage Scheme. In addition to this, five staff from the Infrastructure Group of RLC have attended a cultural induction.
Note: Contact details of third parties, namely Fulton Hogan, are redacted as per section 7(2)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act.
There have been no discoveries, and therefore no specific cultural excavation observation required on the project to date, and thus no invoices received for such work. The contract schedule of prices contains a lump sum item for which the contractor has allowed for any and all cultural induction attendance and liaison work by its staff and subcontractors over the period of the contract. To date the contractor has claimed and been paid for 28% of the scheduled lump sum.
The discovery protocols in use are contained in the contractor’s Cultural Engagement Plan for the project (PDF, 1Mb)(attached).
