Subject: LGOIMA request - public pools
I refer to your LGOIMA request of 20 September 2023 regarding public pools, and provide the following information as per your request:
- How many public pool facilities are there in your council's control?
One facility with both inside and outside pools - What is the maximum number of swimmers allowed in at a time, at each facility?
Indoor pools – 500 swimmers with at least 10 lifeguards
Outdoor pool – 250 swimmers with at least five lifeguards - How many days was each facility closed this year, outside normal days they are shut, up to September 30th?
4.5 days - How many days was each facility partially closed this year, up to September 30th?
273 days (the whole year). Only operating from the outside 50m pool due to major renovations to the inside facilities. - How many people used the pool facilities this year to September 30th, on average, per day?
Average 352 per day - What was the reason for the closures and partial closures?
Partial closure due to major renovations to the inside facility
Full closure - 1.5 days due to severe weather warning, 3 days due to maintenance on the geothermal heating bore - How many days was each facility closed last year (2022), outside normal days they are shut, for the full calendar year?
0 days - How many days was each facility partially closed, in 2022?
49 days - How many people used the pool facilities in 2022 on average, per day?
Average 800 per day - What was the reason for the closures and partial closures?
41 days partial closure due to major renovations to the inside facility and just operating the outside pool which continued into 2023
8 days partial closure of the family pool due to maintenance - How many days was each facility closed last year (2021), outside normal days they are shut, for the full calendar year?
19 days - How many days was each facility partially closed, in 2021?
66.5 days - How many people used the pool facilities in 2021 on average, per day?
Average 951 - What was the reason for the closures and partial closures?
19 days full facility closure due to Covid lockdown
64 days partial closure of outside pool for renovations started in September 2020 and finished in March 2021
2.5 days partial closure of family pool due to maintenance
