I refer to your information request of 17 July 2023 regarding the number of food service outlets in the Rotorua district. Your request was processed under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act.

You have asked for the number of food outlets by the type of food service outlet listed in the below table:

Council do not record the nature of the business in the manner that you have specified, ie: cafes, restaurants, hotels, clubs etc. For this reason your request in this format is declined as per section 17(e) ‘that the document requested is not available’.

However, full information regarding each Risk Base Measures (Food Act registration) is available through the Ministry for Primary Industries public register: Public Register | MPI - Ministry for Primary Industries. Searches can be made using the various search subjects listed.

I have also attached a full spreadsheet from this source of all premises covered by Rotorua Lakes Council as the Registration Authority.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response/decision.
