I refer to your Official Information request of 23 November 2022 regarding artwork owned by Council, and provide the following response in line with your request:
Museum Collection
- What is the total value of all artwork (including sculptures) currently owned by your council? $11,856,213
- What percentage of this total value comes from artworks currently displayed for the public to enjoy? 0% (during Museum closure)
- How much has your council spent over the last 3 years on artwork? $2,820
- What is the most expensive piece of artwork the council owns? How much is to worth? Council has a number of significant art pieces. We decline to identify individual pieces for security reasons as per section 7(e) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act. And is it being displayed? No
Community Public Art
- What is the total value of all artwork (including sculptures) currently owned by your council? $9,660,000
- What percentage of this total value comes from artworks currently displayed for the public to enjoy? Approximately 98%
- How much has your council spent over the last 3 years on artwork? $212,904
- What is the most expensive piece of artwork the council owns? Te Ahi Tupua – 12m high carbon fibre composite sculpture
How much is to worth? $1.2m
And is it being displayed? Yes at the Hemo Gorge roundabout, southern entrance to Rotorua
