Subject: Official Information Act request – disqualification of candidate applications
I refer to your email of 30 September 2022 under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act regarding the 2019 and 2022 local government elections, and your request for ‘all copies of all reports, memorandums, agendas, minutes, emails that detail any mistakes made by Council officers (managing the elections on behalf of Council) in checking candidate applications in the processing of candidates standing for the Local Body Election, which had led to the disqualification by the independent Electoral Officer after the closing date (on the Friday at 12 noon)’.
Rotorua Lakes Council has not had any instances of the above ie: no candidates have been disqualified through mistakes made by Council officers in checking candidate applications.
