Subject: Information request - Parking meters
I refer to your email of 1 July 2022 requesting:
- How many complaints has Rotorua Lakes Council received from the public during the last 12 months regarding the i-park meters not functioning properly or completely unusable?
- What discussions, if any, has RLC staff had with Innovative Parking Solutions Ltd regarding the issue of parking meters not functioning properly or being completely unusable?
Your request was processed under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act.
With regard to question 2, Rotorua Lakes Council meet monthly with i-Park around a broad range of contractual obligations and are also in regular contact on a weekly basis around any relevant operational requirements. When required, these discussions do include the topic of meter maintenance/faults although it is noted that fault levels across the service are generally very low particularly when compared to the large number of transactions that occur. These conversations typically involve i-Park simply keeping Council informed of expected timeframes to repair as expected through the parking contract and whether there are any aspects that could potentially prevent a recurrence. These conversations are considered to be normal operational activities.
