Subject: Official Information request - revocation of reserves
I refer to your Official Information request of 12 July 2022 for information held by Council which confirms Jean-Paul Gaston’s statement that none of the reserves subject to the revocation of reserve status and eventually sold were gifted to Council.
For clarification, the word ‘gifted’ as used by Mr Gaston refers to reserves gifted to the city by Ngāti Whakaue. The vesting of land in Council or the Crown on subdivision is a requirement by law and is not a gift.
