Subject: LGOIMA request - Reserves Fund
I refer to your LGOIMA request of 20 September 2021 regarding reserves funding, and respond below to each of your queries:
I see in your 2019/20 Annual Report (page 58) that a surplus of $809,000 funding was held. Is this still the amount you have available to spend on reserves.
No, the $809k represents the net result from the application of our capital funding, and you will notice it offsets with the deficit shown in the operational funding in the same table. Funding received from external organisations is matched against the project for which the funding was received.
I also note in your Long Term Plan 2021 – 2031 that there isn’t really much detail about capital projects for parks and reserves. It appears that just funding is put aside for the aquatic centre. Please advise other planned projects.
The Aquatic centre requires a total investment of $28.3m of which $17.9m will be funded by Rotorua Lakes Council. The wider capital program expected for delivery over the next 10 years is reflected on page 40 of the Long Term Plan document.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
