Subject: LGOIMA request - land use change resource consent applications
I refer to your Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act request of 26 August 2021 and respond below:
1. How many land use change resource consent applications for Rotorua are currently before Council for main routes into Rotorua and where are these for (street address and/or name of location eg Boulevard Motel or 265 Fenton St)? “Main routes” was subsequently clarified as Lake Road, Fairy Springs Road, Fenton Street and ‘land use change resource consent application’ was clarified as resource consents relating to consents for converted motels or any empty sections that could potentially have transitional/emergency housing established.
2 applications are currently being processed for locations on these roads
2. How many land use change resource consent applications for Rotorua have been passed during the past six months for main routes and where are these for (street address and/or name of location)? “main routes” was subsequently clarified as Lake Road, Fairy Springs Road, Fenton Street and ‘land use change resource consent application’ was clarified as resource consents relating to consents for converted motels or any empty sections that could potentially have transitional/emergency housing established.
During the past six months 1 application for change of land use has been granted, and 1 application has been withdrawn
Council withholds the street address and name of location of the properties referred to above under section 7(2)(a) of LGOIMA to protect the privacy of natural persons. This is to protect the privacy of guests using emergency or transitional accommodation provided in motels where one or more of those guests are in a vulnerable or exposed situation which could be aggravated through an erosion of the protection of their privacy by naming their place of accommodation. The protection of their privacy in these circumstances would be considered to outweigh the principle of public access to official information.
