Subject: Official Information request - Director of the Rotorua Museum
I refer to your online Official Information request of 28 August 2020 requesting the job description and all documents included in the hiring process for the Director of the Rotorua Museum.
The process for this position was:
- The position was advertised through Council's in-house Organisational Development & Capability team via Seek, Museum Aotearoa, Mahi, Trademe, Linked in, RLC's website and the Local Government website (copy ofadvertisementand job description attached).
- The role was initially advertised from 17-29 September 2019, however the successful candidate from that advertising period turned down the roll as they did not want to relocate to Rotorua. The role was advertised again from 9-26 January 2020.
- There were 31 applicants following the second round of advertising - 12 male and 19 female. The names of the candidates is withheld under section 7(2)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 'protect the privacy of natural persons '.
- Nine applicants were short-listed with 1 withdrawing. Five applicants attended a first interview and 4 attended a second interview/presentation.
- The interview panel was made up of:
- Stewart Brown, Manager Arts and Culture and previous Director of Rotorua Museum
- Gina Rangi, Manahautū Māori
- Jocelyn Mikaere, Group Manager Operations
- RLC HR Advisor
- Representative from Whakatane Museum
- Chairman Pukenga Koeke Te Whare Taonga O Te Arawa
- Member of Pukenga Koeke Te Whare Taonga O Te Arawa
For your information, Pukenga Koeke Te Whare Taonga O Te Arawa are elected Kaumatua of Te Arawa and as such advise/support and direct the Museum on all things Te Arawa. This group was consulted with and participated in the recruitment process of the Director position.
- The salary banding for the position is $135,418 to $183,213 total remuneration including superannuation.
Communication between Council and the candidates is withheld under section 7(2)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 'protect the privacy of natural persons '.
The only other communication received/sent was the attached email to Mayor Chadwick. Personal details of the correspondent have been redacted as per section 7(2)(a) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 'protect the privacy of natural persons '.
