Subject: LGOIMA request - parking revenue and expenditure
I refer to your LGOIMA request of 18 December 2020 regarding parking revenue income/expenditure for the 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19 years.
The following are the requested figures for the 2018/19 year:
a) What was the gross parking revenue for the financial year 2018 - 2019 (the total including the previous system and the i-park system)? $1,786,411*
b) What were the total maintenance, warden and i-park costs of that financial year? $1,055,265.43*
c) What was the net revenue for that year? $535,777.26**
* Costs and revenues figures are exclusive of GST
** Net revenue is based on a) and b) shown above and inclusion of (materially) Ministry of Justice e-filing costs and other individually immaterial operating costs not part of b) above
To provide the comparative figures for 2016/17 ad 2017/18 will take approximately 6 hours staff time to collate as Council changed accounting systems in 2018, and the parking income/expenses were contained within the total CBD Management cost code. Staff would need to review, analyse and extract only the specific parking information from the cost code. Council is entitled to charge for time in excess of one hour and, as per the Ministry of Justice charging guidelines, our normal practice is to charge $38 per half hour or part thereof. Therefore to complete your request for the 2016/17 and 2017/18 years would incur a cost of $456 including GST. Please let me know by Friday 22 January 2021 if you wish to continue with your request on this basis. An invoice will then be created which will need to be paid before the work is undertaken.
