Official Information Request - 2 April 2019

Subject: LGOIMA request - parking time limit changes in Government Gardens
I refer to your email of 2 April 2019 requesting documents demonstrating the application and approval process of the recent P180 parking time limit changes around the Polynesian Pool area on Hatupatu Drive.
Attached are:
- Performance Based Parking Management Practices - Policy and Guidelines
- Emails relating to the change to P180 in the vicinity of the Blue Baths and Polynesian Spa
- Map - CBD Parking
No enforcement has taken place as yet in the areas referred to, however enforcement will be starting on 6 May 2019.
It is important to recognise that the Government Gardens area is a recreation reserve, gifted to Rotorua, and now a venue for cultural experiences and passive recreation. The parking available in the gardens is principally there for the purpose of enabling visitors to enjoy the area. Public reserves are not the appropriate environment to cater for all day worker parking. We will be looking at opportunities to create additional parking capacity outside this area.
As per the Act, we are obliged to advise that you may contact the Ombudsman at the address below if you have any concerns with the response provided by Council, by writing to:
