Subject: LGOIMA request - Tokorangi fire protection plan
I refer to your email of 19 February 2019 under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act, regarding the fire protection plan for the Tokorangi Forest.
From a fire perspective the Tokorangi Forest comes under Fire & Emergency NZ for response. There is no specific response plan for this part of the forest but rather a coordinated approach for all forest areas with appropriate resources available at all times and increased when certain trigger points are met - these are generally over the summer months October through March. During this period all available vegetation fire fighters are on standby including rural specific appliances and aerial capabilities.
