Official Information Request - 15 March 2019
Sent: Thursday, 4 April 2019 9:48 a.m.
Subject: Information about Mosquitoes
I refer to your information request of 15 March 2019 (processed under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act) for:
- How many complaints the information centre receives in a 12 month period?
- Of these complaints, how many were related to mosquitoes?
- What information is provided to residents about mosquitoes? Where do you direct them to for information/advice?
The Rotorua Lakes Council Customer Solutions team logged over 60,000 calls in the last year.
None of these calls were related to mosquito complaints.
At this stage there is no information held in the Frequently Asked Questions database regarding mosquitoes as they have never been an issue. If this was to change Council staff would be led by advice from Toi Te Ora Public Health and our Environmental Health team.
As per the Act, we are obliged to advise that you may contact the Ombudsman at the address below if you have any concerns with the response provided by Council, by writing to:
The Office of the Ombudsman

Alternatively, you may email info@ombudsman.parliament.nz or use the online complaints form available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/make-a-complaint.
