Subject: LGOIMA request - money spent marketing local election campaign
I refer to your LGOIMA request of 11 October 2019 and respond below as per your email:
- The total amount spent on marketing the campaign encouraging people to vote in the 2019 local elections up to and including October 12.Total campaign cost was $129,000 which equates to $2.74 per person on the electoral roll.Note: $25,800 of the above cost is collateral (banners, flags) that will be reused for future election campaigns.
- Please break this down by where money was spent e.g. including but not limited to how much was spent on print advertising, radio advertising, billboards, buses, how much was spent with PR companies and which ones.The campaign was all undertaken by in-house staff - no PR companies or contractors were used
- Print advertising - $21,979
- Radio advertising - $3,075
- Billboards (billboards, signs, banners) - $64,376
- Buses - $17,600
- Digital (Facebook, You Tube, cinema adlibs, pre-roll) - $18,710
- Misc - $3,260 (T-Shirts, stickers, pens, coasters etc)
- Please provide the same total and breakdown for any funding provided to other council entities (e.g. CCOs or youth councils) for election-related vote campaignsNo funding was provided to other council entities
- Please also include the time period in which this money was spent.Mid July - 12 October
