Subject: TRIM: Official Information Act request - 1080 poison drops
I refer to your Official Information Act request email of 15 September regarding 1080 poison drops within the Rotorua area.
Rotorua Lakes Council has limited information on 1080 poison drops and does not carry out animal pest poisoning on any of its reserves apart from wasp poisoning. We are notified annually of pest poisoning carried out by other authorities on their own land as part of a requirement to protect public water supply catchment areas. An example of this information is attached. Council assesses these notifications with regard to their proximity to water supply catchments, and where appropriate liaises with health authorities regarding any potential for risk to surface or groundwaters.
