Topic: InfraCore and RLC change proposals
*NOTE: This enquiry relates to proposal to return InfraCore services to RLC and proposed change within RLC, both of which were announced last Friday.
Enquiry
May I please ask:
- How many roles are impacted under the proposal?
- How many are proposed to be cut?
- Are there any new roles?
- Can I please be provided a proposed timeline? I.e. when a final decision be made, feedback due date
- It was explicit in the Infracore presser there would be feedback taken, is this true for the council restructure too?
- What savings are expected to result from each proposal?
- Is there an expected reduction in services resulting from either proposal and if so, what are the details?
- Has the council been in contact with the relevant unions, and if so, will it take on feedback?
- How will bringing InfraCore back into the council result in positives? What are the main benefits? Specific examples please.
- The InfraCore press release is seemingly contradictory in that in one sentence it says no final decision has been made and feedback will be considered, but then says InfraCore will reintegrate under Rotorua Lakes Council by 30 September 2024.Is it a proposal or is it set in stone?
- How many staff from InfraCore will retain jobs, and how many will be lost? If it is not as simple as that, please explain and provide numbers.
Response
From Rotorua Lakes Council – Chief Executive Andrew Moraes:
To clarify, regarding your question about InfraCore, the proposal part is how we move InfraCore staff into council.
As per our statement on Friday, we are now working through these proposals with staff – and seeking their feedback (both InfraCore and RLC) – and won’t be making further comment until after the two change processes have received feedback from staff.
We’ll inform the community of the outcomes at the appropriate time.
