Topic: Language used in CBD business sign
Enquiry
[Re] the sign outside Spa City Noodle Bar on Fenton St. It features the phrase "good sh*t" on the lower right hand side.
I'd like to know from council:
- if it has any rules about what can be written on a sign in the CBD such as this?
- is 'good sh*t' on a sign like this okay?
- has council received any complaints about the sign?
- does council monitor CBD signage? Or only react to complaints?
- what would not be appropriate on a sign such as this?
Response
We provided the following information:
There are no applicable council rules relating to content like this on signs – our expectation would be that businesses use common sense and good judgment in this regard.
We have not had any complaints about this particular sign.
Council doesn’t actively monitor for signage content.
