Topic: Alleged incident at sewerage scheme work site
Enquiry
*NOTE: this is a follow-up from yesterday’s response re alleged incident near Tarawera sewerage scheme work site at Rotokakahi
Can I ask how many signs have been put up and where?
I had a drive down today and couldn't see any, including by the Fulton hogan site.
If it was only placed at the rotokakahi access point, why?
Can council please confirm it was not on private land if it was 1m from lakes edge?
Response
Infrastructure and Environment General Manager, Stavros Michael:
Council has complied with the direction of the court regarding notification of its application for an injunction including notifications in local print media (Rotorua Daily Post) and on council channels (website and Facebook) and signage at the work site. Three signs have been erected, since removed and replaced. Council is not obliged to go to significant cost or effort to replace the sign if it is the subject of ongoing vandalism.
The signs have not been erected on private land but in the road corridor in the vicinity of where the works will take place.
