Inquiry
Was just wanting to get comment from the Rotorua Lakes Council / iSite regarding the old Post Office clock, now the ISite building. It is not working at the moment.
- Is this due to the renovations / construction that is currently happening at the iSite building? How long are the renovations due to go on for?
- Are there plans to restart the clock once the work at iSite has been finished?
- As the clockwork mechanism is over 100 years old are there plans to replace the clockwork mechanism with an electric drive to ensure it continues to work?
Response
The clock has been stopped (for some time now) to protect it while work in the tower end of the iSite is being done and will be re-started when the work is finished. It is in working order.
Rotorua Daily Post was referred to a story written by their staff in 2014.

Topic: Lakefront
Inquiry
Rotorua Daily Post wanted to speak to someone about Lake Rotorua's level and more specifically the damage the high lake level has caused to the Lakefront.
The lake is lapping up at the cobbles, uplifting them and no doubt causing a lot of damage underneath.
Has Lake Rotorua ever been this high before?
Is it purely because of the amount of rain that's fallen or is there something different impacting it?
What is the damage like at the Rotorua Lakefront?
Will the area be fenced off for safety purposes?
Will it be costly to fix?
What's the plan to keep an eye on the lake levels and streams (Utuhina) as we head into the night
Response
You may wish to refer some of these question to Bay of Plenty Regional Council, which looks after the lake, which Rotorua Lakes Council is responsible for the shore.
I have highlighted the questions in which Rotorua Lakes Council should be able to respond too. But this will not be today as our staff and contractors are currently busy responding to weather related issues that have arisen such as slips and fallen trees.
Please note, our comms team is updating weather related issues as they come to hand so please keep an eye on the Council's website and Facebook page.
