Are you able to provide any further comment on this, besides what has been published in the RNZ story? I wondered if we could please get some comment from the Trails Trust, via you, about if this comes as a surprise to them? If that's possible, please let me know and I will send some questions through.

The reporter was provided with the statement that was given to Radio NZ on 18 December.
Council has been working with the Rotokakahi Board of Control to establish a relationship that will enable Council to support them with their aspirations for their whenua and lake. Council acknowledges the values that the Board of Control holds for Rotokakahi and will continue to work with them to alleviate issues where we possible.
The reporter was advised to go direct to the Trails Trust for their comment.
