Rotorua Daily Post requested comment from Mayor Chadwick regarding the results of the latest TelferYoung CBD vacancies survey.

This is a marked improvement and further evidence that Rotorua is making progress and is attracting investment. We've seen through the new businesses which have appeared in the inner city and elsewhere in Rotorua and those we know are still coming.

This also reinforces what we've seen and been told anecdotally that there is renewed vibrancy in our inner city. It shows that the work we've done to date to revitalise the inner city is having an impact and we must continue on with our plans.

We still have some vacant space and this provides an opportunity to start thinking differently about the inner city and consider whether the next phase of development could be inner city living.
