Enquiry
NOTE: This enquiry is a follow-up to an enquiry last week, 28 August 2020, see HERE
Can you tell me what the findings were of the last inspection, and what standards the 7 flats which are fit to be occupied have had to meet?
Response
The following information was provided:
Can you tell me what the findings were of the last inspection
- The premises in question have a building consent that covers the repairs needed to make the buildings habitable and the last inspection was for an individual unit. This inspection was undertaken at the request of the owner to establish whether the repairs were sufficiently completed to allow the withdrawal of the insanitary building status for the particular unit. In this instance it was.
- The inspection was related to a building consent issued to repair the units and was for a single unit in this case. What are the standards the 7 flats which are fit to be occupied have had to meet
- Essentially the buildings were no longer considered injurious to occupants health. This was achieved by repairs to the exterior (roof and walls) to prevent water ingress and associated mould. This also involved internal repairs to replace damaged linings/trim and framing.

Topic: COVID card
Enquiry
I am hoping to please get some comments from the Rotorua Lakes Council following on from this story (about the COVID Card) https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=12360950.
I was hoping to please have some questions answered by the RLC about the roles you are playing in the organisation of the trial and another couple of questions answered by the mayor?
For the council:
What has the Rotorua Lakes Council's role in the trial development been so far?
What will the council's role be in the next stages?
For the mayor:
Were you aware of Sam Morgan's concerns about the Rotorua trial, leading up to today's story?
Do you agree with any of Sam Morgan's criticisms and why/why not?
Why is the CovidCard trial in Rotorua important to you?
Response
The reporter was informed that the Mayor and Council are not involved in the trial and recommended the reporter contact the Ministry of Health for information about this.
