I was wondering if I could please give a spokesperson for Glo a call this afternoon, or send some questions through, just to add something from them to our New Year wrap. Unless you guys are already putting together something? Thanks for an awesome night.

Rotorua's GLO Festival 2019 was a great night attended by thousands of people of all ages who enjoyed a whānau-friendly night at the Village Green.
There was an awesome family vibe right throughout the evening with people enjoying the wide variety of entertainment, and the fireworks were fantastic, says event organiser Alia Ryan, Boost Fundraising and Events Managing Director. The crowd also really appreciated the return of midnight fireworks and the lasers added a fantastic new element to the night, bringing in the New Year with a bang.
The evening kicked off at 6.00pm with the family fun zone, DJ Pete and live music on stage including 14-year old Caitlin Newson from Rotorua Lakes High School entertaining the crowd until 6.30pm when the movie Toy Story 4 started on the big screen. That was followed by a great line-up of artists including trapeze and lyra shows by Aerial Dreams, 9-year old Stevie who DJ'd the kids disco, the Toi Ohomai Band, Stave, Social Wowfair, and Sonic Delusion, punctuated by a fireworks and laser light show at 9.30pm. Just after 11pm local boys Strangely Arousing took to the stage to headline the night, bringing in the New Year with their unique reggae-based, jazz-influenced sound, culminating with a second fireworks and laser spectacular at midnight.
A big thank-you to everyone who came along to enjoy the night and made it such a great success, said Rotorua Lakes Council business development manager Joanna Doherty. It's an awesome event to be involved with and to put on for our community and visitors. Feedback during the night from people attending was overwhelmingly positive, she said.
The whole kaupapa of the GLO Festival is to deliver a safe, fun and family-friendly event for our community, said Ms Doherty.
The crowds were fantastic creating a really good family atmosphere all night. We're also hugely grateful for the excellent job our security, police and medical staff did to keep everyone safe, and to all our sponsors - One Foundation, Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust, Four Winds and More FM - for making the night possible, she said.
