Inquiry
I am doing a Lions/Maori All Blacks rugby story for tomorrow's paper. I understand Steve was part of the Tima Tangata Maori All Blacks exhibition opening this morning.
Could I please get comment from Steve on her thoughts on how the opening went this morning and her thoughts on the exhibition itself?
Response
From Mayor Steve Chadwick:
It's fantastic - a very high impact and beautiful exhibition and this is only the second time it's been displayed. It's been tucked away for a few years and they've updated it and brought it here, with the help of local sponsorship.
I really encourage everyone to go and see it. It's a panorama of stories and our legends and I'm really proud to have it in Rotorua. In fact, I've laid down the challenge that it should stay here - it's a natural home for it. Some of the greats of Maori rugby come from here.
As I was leaving the exhibition a kura from Rotoiti arrived, which was lovely to see. That's what it's all about - inspiring the next generation of not just rugby players but leaders.
