Rotorua Daily Post sought comment regarding the work taking place at the Springfield/Otonga roundabout and why it was not completed on 2 May as advised.

• How much longer are the works expected to take?
• What has cause the most recent delays at the site?
• What has the project cost overall?
• Has that increased because of the delays? If so, by how much?

Response from Infrastructure General Manager Stavros Michael -

All work at the Springfield/Otonga Road roundabout is completed and aesthetic planting is scheduled with our parks and reserves team for the new financial year.

We expected the roundabout to be fully completed and usable by Tuesday 1 May however the severe weather over the weekend prior impacted paving and sealing work because the underlying base material needed to be allowed to dry for a couple of days.

We have not received the final claim for costs from contractors yet.
