Buses

Cityride
Bay of Plenty Regional Council (BOPRC) manages the local suburban Cityride bus service. Rotorua Lakes Council provide the infrastructure to support the service, including shelters and bus stops.
If you see a bus shelter that needs maintenance, use our report a problem page to tell us.

Rotorua bus fares
CityRide buses use the Bee Card system for passengers to pay.
Bee Card is a tag on, tag off system. You can pay with cash, but Bee Cards are cheaper and easier. You can also use the card in Northland, Waikato, Taranaki, Manawatū/Whanganui, Hawkes Bay, Nelson, Otago and Invercargill.
Collect a Bee Card from Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Rotorua Lakes Council or online. Register your card online and top up at beecard.co.nz.
