Topic: New Meade Street geothermal activity
Enquiry referred to the following posted on RLC's Facebook page yesterday: Rotorua Lakes Council has cordoned off an area of Meade Street this morning after some renewed existing geothermal activity in the area. The Council has a geothermal expert assessing and monitoring the activity and Council is advising the public to stay away from the area as a precaution. The activity is not affecting nearby homes. Council will continue to monitor the situation.

The reporter was advised Council had nothing further to add from what was said yesterday and the site remains cordoned off with staff continuing to monitor the site.
The reporter was also referred to Brad Scott from GNS who had visited the site and had no concerns with the activity.
