Enquiry
I am helping write an expansion of this story, concentrating on the main councils within the Waikato Times' coverage area:
I have a few quick questions for an appropriate person in your planning/development department:
What is the extent of this problem in the RLC area?
What has been the council's response (so far)?
Is there anything the council would like to say to affected home-owners, and others who may be affected by this?
*NOTE: other councils were also contacted for information/comment.
Response
From DCE District Development, Jean-Paul Gaston:
Rotorua Lakes Council is in the process of identifying buildings in the district that might be impacted and we do not have an accurate tally as yet but do not anticipate it will be a large number.
The appropriate process will be undertaken with regards to any that are found to be impacted.
As there is an investigation underway we don’t have anything further to add at this time.

Topic: Trolleys
Enquiry
I was wondering, and it's a bit odd, if anyone knows what the story is about a trolley outside the council chambers yesterday? As in, upstairs?
Figured I'd also ask for an update on the trolley situ. Three months ago I was provided info that about 260 trolleys were removed from the inner city each month, costing ratepayers about $5000 per month.
For each of the last three months how has this changed?
Has the issue lessened or increased at all?
Any general comment?
Response
It’s not clear how it originally came to be in the building but there are sometimes abandoned trolleys left near the council building. We are currently waiting for it and two other trollies that were found near our building to be picked up.
Regarding an update on the trolley situation, we don’t have an update at this time but we will let you know when there is one.
