Enquiry
I am writing a story on water and rainfall as farmers are concerned about that and soil moisture levels. Does the RLC have any water restrictions on at the moment and why?
Thank you my deadline is 1 pm today.
Response
The following information was provided:
There are no water restrictions in place from RLC but it would pay to contact Bay of Plenty Regional Council as they manage water shortage directions in relation to waterway levels – RDP covered a story on this earlier this month https://www.nzherald.co.nz/rotorua-daily-post/news/dry-summer-prompts-rotorua-to-move-into-water-shortage-event-as-streams-decline/UFJNJA2N45X6Z7REYPZ3V5LEVA/
Also, we shared some helpful water conservation related information in our most recent Tatau Tatau magazine – you can read that HERE
We explain in that article that the springs that feed our water supplies aren’t impacted by weather conditions. Rotorua doesn’t have to rely on rainfall to supply drinking water.
