Topic: Debate about wearing of ties
Enquiry
I am working on a local take on Parliament's 'tie-gate', seeing how local employers approach requiring male employees to wear a tie. I am hoping to get some comment from your HR lead.
- What does the council's dress code say about tie-wearing? Are there different expectations for the executive or for elected members, or for council meetings in general?
- To your knowledge has this policy changed in recent years?
In your own experience in this field, are attitudes changing regarding ties in business settings?
Response
The following information was provided:
There is no formal dress code, however Council staff and elected members dress appropriately for their roles and/or any meetings, events or hearings they may need to attend as part of their role.
