Where to Park
Mobility card holders
The mobility parking scheme provides specific parking spaces and other parking privileges for people with disabilities. Rotorua has at least 2 mobility parks per street in the Rotorua Central District (CBD).
Mobility card holders can use dedicated mobility spaces for as long as they want without paying. All other car parks can be used by mobility card holders, without paying, for double the amount of time specified (except P15 spaces which are limited to the time frames specified and are intended for quick pick up and drop offs).
If no time limit is specified, mobility card holders may park in this space for as long as they require without having to pay. Ensure that your valid mobility permit is clearly displayed. Parking wardens monitor the mobility parking spaces to ensure vehicles have valid mobility permits.
The only people who may use mobility parks are those who display current permits. Parking enforcement officers will issue a $150 infringement notice to anyone using a mobility park without a clearly displayed current permit.
For permits: Visit Rotorua Lakes Council or contact the national Mobility Parking Office which administers the mobility parking scheme and issues permits.

Motorhome and campervan parking
There are two locations for daytime motorhome parking in Rotorua, both only a minute's walk from the inner city.
- Hinemoa Street - near the Polynesian Spa
- Off Lakefront Drive - behind the Soundshell between the building and Lake Road
Motorcycle parking
There are dedicated motorcyle (motorbike) parks in the CBD that motorcyclists can use. Motorcyclists need to pay to park in both dedicated motorcycle parks and when parking in regular car parks within metered parking zones.
Motorcyclists will need to use the Pay by Plate system in the same way that cars do and adhere to any stated time restrictions. Motorcyclists also need to pay to park in the Pukuatua St Parking building.
Contractor parking
When working at an inner-city site for an extended period of time contractors can purchase an electronic Contractor Parking Permit from Council for $10 a day. This provides the convenience of not having to visit a parking meter or display a physical parking permit. The contractor can park a designated vehicle in the general vicinity of where they are working without worrying about time limits. All parking spaces except P15's and specialist spaces such as mobility, taxi spaces etc can be used.
Please note that a Contractor Permit does not provide any guarantee that a particular parking space will be available at any point in time but instead allows parking in a wider area. The contractor is responsible for making sure that their permit remains current at all times.
