Bylaws
What bylaws are
Bylaws are local rules and regulations that affect how we live, play and work in Rotorua. They are made by a Local Authority (Rotorua Lakes Council) to protect our district and your rights.
The Local Government Act 2002 empowers Council to make bylaws on a diverse range of subjects. Some other Acts also empower local authorities to make bylaws on specific topics. If you want to get involved in the process of creating and amending bylaws, stay up to date with our public consultations.
