Subject: Official Information Request – Costs and Maintenance for Hemo Sculpture
I refer to your Official Information request of 29 October 2024 regarding the costs and maintenance for the Hemo Sculpture, and provide the following responses to your questions:
1. A breakdown of initial projected and actual costs for the Hemo sculpture, including but not limited to, design, construction, materials, installation, and any unforeseen expenses that led to cost overruns.
- Documentation showing how these costs compared to original budget projections, including explanations for any discrepancies.

Five repairs have been undertaken at Council’s cost since the sculpture was installed, primarily repairs from people climbing and damaging the sculpture:

- Current estimates for annual routine maintenance.
Annual maintenance cost is a wash down and inspection - approximately $2,200 per year.
- Copies of maintenance agreements or contractual obligations related to the sculpture’s upkeep.
A repaint is budgeted for every seven years, estimated at $30,000.
