I refer to your LGOIMA request of 17 October 2023 regarding parking. Please find below the information requested for the 2022/23 financial year (July-June) and the 2023/24 year to 17 October 2023, GST exclusive:
- Total revenue from parking fees, including parking buildings.
- Total from fines/infringements.
- Month-by-month council revenue from parking fees.
- Month-by-month council revenue from parking fines.

Below are the figures for fines submitted to Ministry of Justice for collection:

2023/24 YTD July-September - $251,351 (October figures currently unavailable)
Note: Council receives approximately 50% return on the fines submitted to Ministry of Justice. - Legal costs associated with parking fine enforcement, and the details of those costs (ie: what the legal cost was specifically for and why).
Legal fees for this period were zero. - Cost of parking services ie relevant contracts (such as i-Park), wages.
Costs directly attributable to parking services (including i-Park payments) for this period were:

$130 ($7 per plate processing fee for exempt vehicles). Council vehicles are exempt from parking fines when parked within close proximity of the Council building when carrying out their duties for Council. Elected members’ cars are exempt from parking fines within close proximity of the Council building when attending to Council business. - How does the council collect payment? (ie: parking machines)
Parking machines, permits and via the PrestoPark parking app. - What is the month-to-month number of faults reported if machines are used?

- What is the (estimated if not known) cost to the council for break downs?
There is no cost to Council for breakdowns; the cost of any breakdown or repair is borne by i-Park. The system is constructed in such a way that there are alternative methods of payment offered and all parkers are required to pay for their parking.

Subject: parking - LGOIMA
I refer to your further LGOIMA request of 19 December 2023 for the total cost for parking services for the 2022/23 year, including overheads.
For the 2022/23 financial year, the total costs were $2,452,263. This includes (but is not limited to) administration expenses, finance costs, insurance, rates, telephone, cleaning, security, contractors, staff costs, utilities, depreciation, overheads.
