Official Information Request - Salary band

Subject: LGOIMA request - salary band limits
I refer to your email of 17 June 2021 under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act for:
- How many staff are paid more than their salary band allows?
- For the purposes of responding to OIAs and formatting annual reports, how are those who are paid over their salary bands classified (are they classed as in the salary band they ought to be in or the one where their pay ought to place them)?
Salary bands are relevant to the specific grade of the position, with the salary band ranging from 85% to 115% of the salary for the grade. Council currently has 6 staff above the top range for their grade (ie: above 115%) due to market retention and/or redeployment conditions.
For the purposes of the Annual Report bands, staff are listed in the band commensurate with their remuneration.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Publication of responses to LGOIMA requests
Please note: Our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Rotorua Lakes Council website after they have been responded to, with requesters’ personal details withheld. If you have any concerns about this please contact the Council on info@rotorualc.nz.
