Subject: LGOIMA request - RLC owned and publicly displayed art
I refer to your email of 30 September 2020 under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act for the following information:
- A register of all artwork owned by the Rotorua Lakes District Council indicating the total value and value of each piece.
- A list of all artwork owned by the Rotorua Lakes District Council that is currently on public display and where.
Attached is a list of the RLC-owned items in the Museum art collection. The total value of these items is approximately $10.7 million based on the information readily available.
To provide individual values for each item would take a considerable amount of staff time to collate. This part of your request is therefore declined under section 17(f) of the Act 'that the information requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or research'.
One item of work - Colin McCahon, North Otago Landscape, 1967 - is currently on display at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Complaints can be sent by email to info@ombudsman.parliament.nz, by fax to (04) 471 2254, or by post to The Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington 6143.
Publication of responses to LGOIMA requests
Please note: Our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Rotorua Lakes Council website after they have been responded to, with requesters' personal details withheld. If you have any concerns about this please contact the Council on info@rotorualc.nz .
