Subject: LGOIMA request - pool regulations

I refer to your Official Information request of 12 December 2019 regarding pool regulations, and respond below as per your email:

• How many residential pools are there within the Rotorua Lakes District Council region? 529 residential pools as at 12.12.2019
• What is the charge for a pool inspection? $117 for initial pool inspection fee
• What is the fine for a failed pool inspection? There is no fine for a failed pool inspection, however there is a re-inspection fee of $58
• How many pool inspections have taken place since the new rules came into force in 2017? Total inspections to date 719
• How many failed pool inspections have there been since the new rules came into force in 2017? Initial pool inspection failures 267
• How many fines/charges have been imposed because inspectors couldn't access the property for an inspection since the new rules came into force in 2017? None
• How much money has the council collected in inspection fees since the new rules came into force in 2017? Total revenue collected to date $81,966.00
• How much money has the council collected in failed pool inspection fines/fees since the new rules came into force in 2017? Nil
• How many children have drowned in residential pools and spas since the new rules came into force in 2017? None to our knowledge
