Topic: Patu security
Inquiry
Te Tatau Pounamu
1. Is the security system being installed solely or primarily to safeguard the patu?
2. What does the security system involve?
3. How much is the security system costing?
4. Why is it considered necessary?
5. Do any other artworks or items on display in the council buildings have a security box or security system?
Response
Please attribute the following statement to Rotorua Lakes Council's Legal and Property Manager, Tyron Tomlinson:
A new alarmed display cabinet has been installed in the Council Chamber for the patu pāraoa, Te Tatau Pounamu, as part of the planned Civic Centre Refurbishment works. The current security system has been in operation for some time and is currently being upgraded. As a safety measure, it would be unwise to detail the functions of the system and security for items on display in the Council building.

Topic: Te Ngae Road becoming four lanes
Inquiry
At the Chamber candidates debate there was strong support for making Te Ngae Rd four lanes. Todd McClay and Ben Sandford both promising to make it happen:
Click HERE for link to the story
To that end I wanted to ask Steve:
Does she back making Te Ngae Rd four lanes?
Would any four lane project be conditional on central Government investment?
Is there any indication as to when work may commence?
Response
See THIS LINK re mayor's comments about support from candidates for four-laning of Te Ngae (remember part of it is already going to be four-laned - Tarawera to Iles Rd but the call is for the four-laning all the way to the airport). Feel free to use all/any of the content in that link.
