A reporter sought comment from Mayor Chadwick in regards to the risk of a cut to funding.

From Mayor Steve Chadwick:

Rotorua's rescue helicopter provides a valued and vital service for our community.

If the idea is to take a more integrated, coordinated approach to air and land ambulance services, in part to address concerns regarding the sustainability of these essential services, that makes sense. I support the idea of a more coordinated approach but would want assurances that our community still has access to a responsive, efficient and effective service.
