I am seeking a response from the Mayor on the governments latest announcement which gives the newly jobless $490 tax-free for 12 weeks.

Will this help getting people back on their feet or is it merely a pointless injection of money?

From Mayor Chadwick:

This is an extremely stressful time for many in our community, including those who are newly unemployed and now faced with uncertain futures.

I'm sure any assistance will be very welcome as they either look for new employment or consider and investigate training options and make their transition.
