Topic: Forest users accessing private lake Rotokakahi
Enquiry
I'm looking into concerns from the Rotokakahi Board of Control about the high numbers of people swimming at Lake Rotokakahi since new bike trails were opened last year.
Is anyone from the council available for an interview to talk about this?
Response
The reporter was advised Council did not have a spokesperson available for an interview but the statement below was provided for RNZ use:
Council has been working with the Rotokakahi Board of Control to establish a relationship that will enable Council to support them with their aspirations for their whenua and lake. Council acknowledges the values that the Board of Control holds for Rotokakahi and will continue to work with them to alleviate issues where we possible.

Topic: Election candidate declarations
Enquiry
This is for a story about electoral returns - if there's no link on a candidate's name here, does that mean they didn't file a return/declaration?
If so, what does that mean? Are there repercussions?
Response
Information provided:
Yes, if there is no further information linked to a candidate's name this means Council is yet to receive their declaration.
Declarations were due by 13 December 2019 as per the Electoral Act. Failure to file a declaration can result in a $1000 fine.
Comment from Council's Corporate Planning and Governance Manager, Oonagh Hopkins:
Council has been actively trying to collect this information from candidates prior to this date. This task is now with Rotorua Lakes Council's electoral officer, Warwick Lampp.
