Topic: Airways proposal to remove services from Rotorua Airport
Enquiry
Just picking up on a comment [by Mayor Steve Chadwick] on The AM Show this morning.
What is the situation with Airways NZ and air traffic control in Rotorua?
Am I able to get an official comment from the mayor about the situation and what it means for Rotorua as a destination?
Response
The following information was provided:
The Airways situation dates back to April after the air navigation services provider announced it is considering withdrawing air traffic services at seven regional aerodromes including Rotorua.
See Airways announcement dated 9 April HERE
The Mayor has lobbied since then for these services to be retained in Rotorua.
Her official comments regarding this can be found in a statement she put out 24 April which you can find HERE.
This matter is ongoing (there is no resolution as yet) and the mayor continues to lobby Government, for the reasons outlined in the statement.
Let us know if there is anything further you require.

Topic: Annual plan forum
Enquiry
Can you please send me a copy of the agenda and the minutes and other reports from the Monday 11 May forum?
In addition, how does this differ or supplement the work outlined in the recovery plan?
Response
The following information and clarification was provided:
Monday's forum was not a committee or council meeting that was open to the public. It was an annual plan forum for elected members, although they made public what was presented to them, to provide clarity for our community. They did the same after the previous annual plan forum where a panel including economists and council officers presented to them.
What was presented to elected members on Monday, and next steps, is available HERE (I think you have shared this on The Mud Facebook page). As per the next steps' outlined in that information, following on from the forum (which was the final annual plan forum for elected members), the proposed annual plan community consultation document will be presented to the Full Council for approval next week (19 May). That will be a public meeting and will be livestreamed. The agenda and minutes will be publicly available.
Your question how does this differ or supplement the work outlined in the recovery plan? - by this I am assuming you mean what is proposed for the annual plan.
You will recall that late last month (see HERE) Council adopted 8 key strategies to guide the development of the annual plan to support the recovery strategy.
The graphics you can access HERE (which is the news item you shared on The Mud Facebook page) illustrate how what is proposed for the annual plan will align with the 8 guiding strategies (first graph) and therefore support the recovery strategy.
The second graph (Annual Plan summary) provides detail re what is proposed for the annual plan against each of the guiding strategies.
