Inquiry
I'm currently working on our coverage plan for the Lions tour and I thought I would get in touch to get a feel for what the Rotorua Lakes District Council might have in store for the Lions tour.
I'm after any details you can share around a civic welcome, fanzones or events on in the city for fans during the tour.Any information would be much appreciated.
Response
The Newshub Reporter was referred to the official webpage for the Rotorua events.

Are any special preparations were being made in light of the forecast.
What's the weather like at the moment? Any particular areas of concern? Any advice for people in the region? Is there a particular time that's critical for the region?
At the moment we're keeping an eye on things but a heads up on any problems or concerns would be greatly appreciated.

Response
From Council's Director of Waste and Transport Solutions, Stavros Michael:
Council staff are continuing to monitor the weather. As a pre-cautionary measure the city's Wastewater Treatment Plant effluent ponds have been lowered and staff are carrying out checks of known manholes which are subject to overflowing during heavy rain. Essential staff are on stand-by as Rotorua is forecast to receive heavy bouts of rain from about 10 o'clock tonight which are expected to ease off at about 8 tomorrow morning. We advise motorists in the district to take care on the roads, drive to the conditions and use their headlights if visibility is poor. We also encourage residents to clear gutters and drains around their homes. If they notice any stormwater drain that is blocked outside their properties, we would appreciate their help clearing them if they can do so safely. If it's not safe, we would appreciate it if they could call Council so contractors can check and clear drains.
